TE’s updater only ships firmware for the plugged-in SKU.
Here you pick any TE032 .tfw; the page shows the
four header SKU bytes changing to match the connected unit,
then flashes that image over WebMIDI.
The firmware stays as Teenage Engineering shipped it — only the header SKU changes. Read the lab notebook / disclosure write-up before you flash anything.
Needs WebMIDI: Chrome or Edge on desktop, or Chrome on Android over USB-C — handy at a bench with no laptop. No browser on iPhone or iPad can run this.
The serial is the stable hardware anchor.
After an OS swap or err loop, GREET SKU / product name follow the
flashed image — serial does not. Write it down (and copy it) before any experiment.

The unit is in update mode (screen shows RDY). That usually means the last image failed validation — Medieval’s KEYHASH does not match EP-133/EP-40, so the board soft-rejects and stays here.
MIDI/DFU still work; sample FILE does not.

you download the stock .tfw, drop it below, check the risks,
and flash. We do not fetch firmware binaries.

DFU_BEGIN only accepts a header SKU that matches the unit.
That rewrite happens in memory on flash — you do not need a pre-patched file.
Connect a device and load a .tfw to see whether the header SKU must change.
Cross-flashing is unsupported. Field units use different NOR flash types and densities. Publishing should warn about incompatibility, data loss, bricking, and warranty void.

(1) the serial above — write it down.
(2) projects + samples over WebMIDI FILE (kotu protocol), in this page — no Python.
Run this before risky flashes or a SHIFT+ERASE format.

OS 2.5+ keeps each sample’s rate (no upsample to 46875), so on-device size ≈ pack WAV (~52 MB for all nine EP-40 factory projects — usually fits 64 MiB NOR).
Thin keeps pad-referenced samples; restore uploads samples then projects over WebMIDI. Restore is blocked if the selection won’t fit.
